HLHA retrochiasmatic damage visual field

Description: Visual field showing left homonymous lateral hemianopia. This type of visual field defect is seen in cases of retrochiasmatic damage. The causative lesion is located behind the optic chiasma, at the level of the primary visual cortex (V1). The visual field loss occurs on the side opposite to the lesion causing it. In this case, where the visual field is impaired on the left side, the lesion is retrochiasmatic on the right side. Brain imaging should be performed to look for a right retrochiasmatic lesion such as an expansive process, ischemic stroke, or hemorrhagic stroke.
