Retinal schisis retinoschisis retina high myopia OCT

Description: Macular OCT of retinal schisis in a highly myopic patient (-8D). This condition, linked to the excessive elongation of the eye and the mismatch between the elongating sclera and the retina that cannot 'keep up,' is characterized by a separation of the retinal layers, forming cavities visible on the OCT exam. In case of visual impairment, a vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling with fovea sparing can help reduce macular traction.
